Screamed at the Caster in a public space? Empty Screamed at the Caster in a public space?

Post by SteveBascoWizFan Tue Jul 16, 2024 8:34 pm

Caster (M 35) keeps stealing my (M 28) Magic the Gathering Cards while I'm at work. I Always leave them on the communal break area of our floor since we play a few matches and the . It happened over the course of a few days of me noting that a few were missing over the course of a few days and then I caught the Caster stealing them.

I ended up getting into a pretty heated argument and it spilled over to the office area and I was shouting and screaming, making a scene.

Afterwards my boss had me and Caster and boss told me I was wrong for lashing out and that I should have brought the situation to him before making a scene on the office.

Was it my fault or the Caster's? Could I have handled the situation better?

I think it's true you didn't need to escalate to making a scene. In the future maybe confront the Caster about it calmly, and then report them if they don't return comply. The equivalent of offering to settle out of court before taking it to the judge, but don't go for vigilante justice.

That said, it's the Caster's fault for stealing in the first place. CCT

CCT for sure. It's natural to want to protect your personal property, especially if you're in routine constant with the individual who's very presence is a threat to it.

It's highly likely your boss read you the riot act just to save face, a classic managerial strategy that those of us in charge teams of individuals have had to use more times than we'd like.

...oh I see! This is why you needed to replace your Magic Gathering cards. Because this blockhead Caster stole them from you.

Yes, CCT for sure.

Ultimately CCT. I do not think carrots is the perfect method... Causing a commotion is sure to make things escalate into something worse... a Full-on duel could be calamitous. That said, if they truly are guilty of trying to steal your magical appliances contacting a higher up or an authority, but an emotional response is not unreasonable.
